Grey-faced Buzzard and Bird Ecology
Grey-faced Buzzard is a renowned bird species in Changhua that flies over Bagua Mountain and Dadu Mountain on their return to the north during spring. There are diverse bird species in habits including Dadu River estuary, Hanbao Wetland, Fangyuan Wetland and Dacheng Wetland etc., as well as migratory birds from all over the world. Furthermore, Dadu Estuary Wildlife Refuge was designated by the county government as a wildlife refuge. Wetlands nurture myriads species of flora and fauna, making them the ideal habitat for birds.
Wetlands and intertidal flats
Fubao Wetland and Hanbao Wetland in Fuxing Township and Fangyuan Township, Changhua features diverse ecological environments including intertidal flats, abandoned farmlands, dry fields, swamps, fish farm, and paddy fields. The intertidal flats are home to water birds foraging for small crabs, visitors coming here for ecotourism can see a plenty of different interesting bird species.
Floral county
Changhua is a floral county, where visitors can admire Tung blossoms along County Highway No. 139 on Bagua Mountain, Wolongpo Trail, Futian Ecological Park, Tiaoshui Trail and Tengshan Trail, or they can search for jasmine in Huatan Township, Floss-silk Tree at the Ershui Township Bikeway, ceiba flower festival in Pitou Township, chrysanthemum at Tianwei Highway Garden, oceans of flower in Xizhou Park and Shetou, as well as sunflowers and garden cosmos plantation in Hemei etc.
