Survival at the fiercely competitive gourmet street in Beidou is extremely tough, but there are plenty of stores here with longstanding history, and “Ice and Fire Ice Parlor” is one of the best. Female owner Chin-Chu, Chiang emphasizes “freshly made delicacy” and prepares adzuki beans, Job’s tears, peanuts, mung beans, soy beans and taros in house daily. For fruit ice products, she purchases fruits directly from the growers and does not use any juice concentrates. She has developed a selection of unique flavors, such as the signature strawberry ice in spring and mango ice in summer, while papaya milk is a perennial favorite in the store.
