Changhua County Art Museum is the newest and best-equipped county-level museum of the kind in central Taiwan. The museum, located at the intersection of Dongmin Street and Guashan Road in Changhua City, is a structure characterized by a raised ceiling hall design and green architecture elements, having at its perimeter national historic sites such as the Confucius Temple, Hall of Martial Virtues and Shrine to Virtue and Piety, as well as cultural buildings and scenic spots like Changhua County Library, Changhua Arts Museum, Changhua Municial Library, Changhua Living Art Center, and the Great Buddha of Baguashan. It has contributed to the formation of a most beautiful living circle in Changhua City, not only providing the public with easy access to artistic and cultural sights, but also boosting local artistic and cultural activities while enhancing the general public participation in these activities.
  Changhua County Art Museum is a modern steel structure with oblique columns branching out in varied directions, a design inspired by Baguashan’s signature images of bamboo grooves and traditional mullioned windows seen locally. Three rooftop terraces at different heights are at one with the ecological environment of Baguashan and the atmosphere surrounding the Hall of Martial Virtues, presenting a tension between nature and culture, and between historical structures and modern cultural buildings. The museum was awarded the second place in the category of best design for public buildings in the “2013 Taiwan Real Estate Excellence Awards.” It also represented Taiwan to contend in the 2014 FIABCI Prix d’Excellence competition. It has thus been taken as a model of construction quality and architectural design in Taiwan, also a pride of Changhua County. It is also a most representative structure and distinctive country-level museum of the kind in central Taiwan.

Magnificent Changhua County Art Museum-2
The public artwork “Beauty of Heaven and Earth” in the atrium of the museum is the largest public art wall in Taiwan, combining various elements to represent Changhua’s rich cultural and natural resources as well as the vitality of the land that it occupies. The refreshing green-shaded glass of the work symbolizes a clean, natural environment, while the clay plates depict different layers of earth, standing for profound cultural heritage. The stainless steel balls reflect the azure sky and white clouds, symbolizing the dialogue between the outside environment and our inner world. The intricate, nuanced presentation of the artwork serves to reflect the bountiful local cultural and natural assets of Changhua. This imagery echoes the museum’s magnificent spatial design flawlessly.
