The Changhua County Natural Ecology Education Center is located beside the Qing’an Waterway, near the Dadu River estuary in Shengang Township. Surrounded by rolling green slopes, shimmering waters, and striking white wind turbines, this sleek, white building sits elegantly by the water, creating a fresh and dreamlike ambiance. Inspired by the nearby western coastline—home to the endangered white dolphin—the center’s flowing, dolphin-like architectural design has earned it the affectionate nickname “White Dolphin House.” More than just a popular landmark, it serves as an ideal starting point for exploring the rich coastal ecology.
The center is situated in Xianxi District, within the Changhua Coastal Industrial Park, conveniently accessible via Provincial Highway 61 or Qing’an Road. Along the way, visitors can admire the graceful rotation of white wind turbines. The Changhua County Government has developed a spacious parking lot and the 2.7-hectare Xibin Dolphin Park along Qing’an Road. Featuring slides, a pet-friendly area, and amenities, the park offers families a diverse experience.
Opened in 2020, the Changhua County Natural Ecology Education Center features a first-floor exhibition space showcasing marine and wetland ecology along with key conservation efforts. The facility also includes a souvenir shop and public restrooms for visitors’ convenience.
Nearby, the Dadu River estuary—recognized as a nationally significant wetland—is rich in biodiversity and affectionately known as the "hometown of fiddler crabs" and the "hometown of waterbirds." It serves as a vital habitat for various waterbirds and migratory species, including Eurasian curlews, dunlins, and little tern. Rare birds such as black-faced spoonbills and Saunders’s gulls can also be spotted here, enhancing the area’s ecological significance.
The White Dolphin House seamlessly integrates green spaces, waterfront scenery, and sleek architectural design, exuding a sense of lightness and fluidity. Celebrated as "Changhua’s purest white romantic spot," it captivates visitors with its unique charm from every angle and in any weather. Since its completion, it has become a sought-after location for wedding photo shoots and has even hosted group wedding ceremonies.

Inside the center, exhibitions on wetlands, seabirds, and cetaceans are curated according to schedules. In addition to highlighting the region’s wetland ecology, birds, and the Chinese white dolphin, new displays have been introduced featuring rare marine species from Taiwan’s waters, including humpback whales, sperm whales, and orcas. To further engage visitors, the center has incorporated an immersive wave and beach experience zone, along with a video screening area, fostering greater awareness of marine conservation efforts.
One of the site’s most popular hidden gems for photography is the gentle grassy slope behind the building. A walk up the slope leads to the rooftop, offering a panoramic view of the Changhua Coastal Industrial Park and the Qing’an Waterway. Visitors are encouraged to follow venue regulations to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience while capturing stunning photos.
Looking toward the Dadu River estuary, visitors can spot the renowned "Overwater Hut" of Shengang, Changhua. This area is also a protected conservation site for mole shrimp breeding. Nearby, Xianxi District features attractions such as the Clam Barracks and various tourist factories. Continuing south along the coast, travelers can explore Lukang Old Street, Wanggong Fishing Port, Fangyuan Wetlands, and other destinations, each showcasing the distinct charm of Changhua’s western coastline.
