Doushan Shrine was built in a two-tier, one-court, and two-wing structure. The first tier is the front hall and the second tier houses the shrine. The front hall opens in three sections and a small gate opens to the access corridor of each of the wings. The roof of the main hall has a swallow-tail ridge and the two side-wings in plain slanting roofs.
The first-tier hall features intricate lion-seat wood carving and color paintings, which was the artworks added during a renovation in the Showa Period. The interior of the front was designed in a two-beam three-bracket structure. In 1971, the verandas at the two sides were renovated into today's concrete flat-top format. Doushan Shrine is an architecture of the Xiao Family Shrine. Therefore, the front hall enshrines the ancestors of the family. Ancestor worship activities are held at Doushan Shrine on the 12th day of lunar January and the winter solstice day annually.
