Dingguang Temple was formerly the Dipamkara Buddhist Nunnery. It was built in Qianlong 26 Qing Dynasty and renovated in Daoguang 28 Qing Dynasty by disciples led by Chang Lien-Hsi after the Changhua Earthquake. After the renovation, the nunnery was renamed as Dingguang Temple. This Temple does not have a striking facade, magnificent front gate or majestic mountains. It is a quiet and solemn temple in a secluded world of its own nestling in a corner of the city center in front of the railway station (No. 140 Guangfu Road). People fold their hands to pray as they pass by the temple on the way to their daily activities. It is the earliest as well as the most visited temple in Changhua City.
