Built in 1790, the deity in Zhong Yi Temple was the incarnation of the main deity in Quanzhou, China. In the early times, each household leader living in the neighborhood was responsible to be the incense-owner (the worship leader) in turn each year. In 1823, the temple was built to accommodate the deity permanently. Splendid, there are engravings of paintings and calligraphy of the poetry of the painters and writers in Lukang. In the front hall, there is a finely made horizontal board, on which the words “Bravery, Courage, and Loyalty” are carved. Decorated with many vivid colors, the temple is exceptionally magnificent.
