˙ The mock-ceramic textured paving at the base highlights the archaic demeanor of the structure.
About the Poem Wall – For the love of the land, the people, and the literature
In ancient times, Changhua was the hub of culture, politics, economy, and transportation in central Taiwan. The abundance of cultural ambiance has cultivated countless talents in Taiwan, especially in the field of literature.
Iconic figure: Father of New Literature – Mr. Lai, He.
Consisting of 100 vertically arranged steel plates, the steel structure is a landmark that resembles the appearance of books. Words are selected from the manuscript and rearranged, mimicking his original handwriting. Since the original writing was in very fine stroke, therefore a bolder font was chosen to ensure the sturdiness of the art installation.
Inspired by the themes of “Cultural Embodiment” and “Spiritual Value of History”, the “solemn, simple” spatial aesthetic of “Changhua’s Literature” is created. The sight of familiar objects evokes nostalgia – you can reminisce about the past and create new future in order to appreciate the profound cultural connotation and the significance of different eras.
