Built in 1929, this county ancient monument was completed on October 18, 1930, a martial art field during the Japanese colonization period where Taichung Changhua county conducted activities such as Judo and Kendo.
Changhua Wude Temple was partially damaged during the 921 earthquake and was repaired last June. The repair work adopted the ancient method so that the building could maintain most of its original look. For instance, the roof tiles and the spring floor for Judo exercises in the temple have been repaired according to old photos.
During the construction of the nearby art center, it is not open to the public temporarily.
Changhua Wude Temple sustained partial structural damage during the 921 earthquake, hence a restoration project was launched in June last year. Ancient techniques are employed to preserve most of the building’s original appearance, such as the roof tiles and Judo spring floor.
