Throughout history, the temple has enshrined the Shui royal highness since its establishment in Kangxi 23. In year 37, the marine head Qiu began the enshrinement from his hometown, which marked a long history. His royal highness Zeng at the side was a real person whose military achievements have been noted in the county history. He was Zeng Shao-Long, a marine officer who sacrificed his life during the Chen Zhou-Quan revolution in Qianlong 60. He received the emperor’s rewards to be honored for generations, ranked 4th Pin and is enshrined in the Changzhong Temple. The outfit of the enshrined god is that for the 4th Pin royal position. Also, legend has it that although Zeng was a soldier, he was good at literature and calligraphy. He organized a private school to educate the laymen and encouraged the students to participate in government exams for a promising career. Thus, his efforts in promoting the literary education had won the local people’s admiration. Similar to Wenchang god, the enshrined Zeng has become a god that gives blessings to those who participate in national exams.
