The Bagua Mountain Skywalk provides a bird’s eye view of Changhua, allowing walkers to not only overlook the ecological beauty of the foothill zone and the fantastic panoramic views of Changhua City, but also enjoy the fun of strolling in the canopy. The total length of the skywalk trail is 1,005 meters, with 7 entrances and exits installed. The trail is flat and well suited to tourists of all ages.
The Bagua Mountain Skywalk was opened to public in July 2016, connecting other tourist attractions in the Mt. Bagua Great Buddha Scenic Area. It was once the longest skywalk in Taiwan. With white fences, the trial follows the mountain like a swimming dragon, leading tourists to deeply explore the foothill ecology of Bagua Mountain.
The highest point on the trail reaches 16 meters, while most sections are approximately 6 to 7 meters. From the park next to the Great Buddha, it forms an aerial bridge passes above Guashan Road and the Yingri Pond (映日池) of the Bagua Mountain Ecological Park. The Skywalk Entrance No. 2 is where walkers overlook the lotus pond and tree plants, and Entrance No. 3. follows is the place where a lively weekend market takes place frequently. This section goes around the Bagua Mountain Baseball Stadium, with secluded military memorial shrine nearby.
The elevated trial is accompanied by woods such as formosan sweet gum, comphor trees, and Taiwan acacia. The scenery changes with the seasons. Entrance No. 4 leads to Changhua Arts High School. During the graduation season in early summer, the phoenix flowers all over the mountain reveal the unique summer look of Bagua Mountain, attracting a visit of tourists from far and wide to admire its beauty.
The skywalk sometimes descends gently and sometimes rises to touch the sky. It is described as "the wings in the sky". After passing through the dense woods, the view is suddenly broadened, with a protruding aerial observation deck for city views. Then, at Entrance No. 5, the trail passes through the campus of Changhua Arts High School, where the quaint barrack buildings blend in with the landscape of the forest and were renovated into classrooms to create a desirable learning environment.
At the end of the trail, Entrance No. 6 connects to the Taiwanese Language Cultural and Creative Park, and Entrance No. 7 is near the National Changhua Living Art Center. Connected to the "Green Camping Place for Learning (綠色環境學習營地)", these attractions make up to a dozen hectares of green space for visitors to breathe in nature.
The Bagua Mountain Skywalk is not only a path to get close to nature, it takes walkers only 30 minutes to walk through, it is also a shortcut through various important attractions in Bagua Mountain. On top of that, when the annual Changhua Moon Shadow Lantern Festival takes place, it turns a light corridor which always makes tourists linger.
Department of City and Tourism Development, Changhua County has installed night lighting and automated external defibrillators on the trail. Self-driving tourists can choose to park vehicles in the parking lot of Mt. Bagua Scenic Area or National Changhua Living Art Center. It is important to note that the trails have large floor holes and are not recommended for wheelchairs, strollers and tourists wearing stilettos. For wheelchairs or strollers, please enter and exit from Entrance No. 1 or 7.
