The completion and opening ceremony of Er Ba Shui Water Park in Ershui, Changhua County was held in the afternoon today (28). Magistrate Wei Ming-ku of Changhua County and Mayor Cheng Tsang-yang of Ershui Township hosted the ceremony and cut the ribbon together. Since then, a new sightseeing resort that preserves the railroad landscape and pastoral scenery was added to Ershui Township. Connecting with Babao Canal and other famous scenic spots, it provides visitors an ideal place to visit in Ershui.
Magistrate Wei expressed that he would like to thank Legislator Chen Su-yueh for helping secure funds from the central government to refurbish the Parent-Child Park by Ershui Rail Station, including the steam train display ground, military craft display ground, children’s playground, railroad cultural relics exhibition, Guanghua Community Activities Center Square, and other surrounding landscapes. When visitors come to Ershui, they freely travel the whole area. Connecting to Ershui Bikeway, Baibao Canal Water Park, Mr. Lin Temple, Ershui Taiwan Macaque Ecology Education Center, and more, promoting the tourism in Ershui.
Magistrate Wei pointed out that residents in Ershui are friendly and hospitable. In addition, the Ershui Water Marathon is listed as one of the top 10 marathons in Taiwan. With diverse features, there are more and more people participating in the Ershui Running Water Festival. The county government aims to promote Ershui and its tourism by making it known to visitors.
Magistrate Wei went on to point out that “where roads lead, economy there should be developed.” No matter whether it is highway or railway, both of which are important. In the future, when the Tianzhong Branch Station is opened, it will link with HSR Changhua Station. When it is completed people can take a train from Changhua to Tianzhong. As to south extension of the East Chang Highway has secured 684 million NTD of funding. It will connect with the Nan-Yun Interchange from the HSR Changhua Station at Tianzhong with Nan-Yun Interchange through Ershui Township. By then, the traffic will be more convenient, contributing to the development of local tourism.
Director Ma, Ying-chieh of the Department of City and Tourism, Changhua County Government pointed out in the briefing in the ceremony that Changhua County Government endeavored to seek subsidy from the Tourism Bureau, MOTC in 2016 to conduct the “Leisure Point Features Additive Value Plan – Ershui Station and Surrounding Landscape Construction Project” to refurbish the Parent-Child Park by Ershui Rail Station, including the steam train display ground, military craft display ground, children’s playground, railroad cultural relics exhibition, Guanghua Community Activities Center Square, and other surrounding landscapes. Occupying the area of 5,130m2, the total construction expenditure was 15.37 million NTD. With a carefully designed plan, the landscape around Ershui Rail Station will be improved greatly, adding a new sightseeing resort that preserve the railroad landscape and pastoral scenery is added to Ershui Township. Connecting to Babao Canal Water Park, Ershui Bikeway, Chichi Rail, and famous scenic spots, it provides visitors an ideal place to visit in Ershui.
In the past, Ershui was called as “Erbashui.” In the early time, the farming was the major production means of local people. Centering on Babao Canal and the railway, it was the center for local construction and development. Ershui Rail Station was the starting point of Chichi Rail and an important rail cargo station. The county government conducted the “Ershui Rail Station and Surrounding Landscapes Construction Project”, it will re-position the roles and functions of the children’s playground, railroad cultural relics exhibition, and Guanghua Community Activities Center Square. Introducing the method of landscape highlight design, it refurbishes the Ershui Rail and sightseeing features, providing a friendly sightseeing surrounding to visitors. Connecting with the rich tourism resources in Ershui, it activates the Ershui Rail Station and the Old Street in the neighborhood. The Erbashui Water Park is an integration of its name in the past and the new water park. In Taiwanese, it means “the beautiful park”. When Erbashui Water Park is completed, it will add a great amount of charm and beautiful landscapes to Ershui – the pastoral county.
In the opening ceremony of the “Erbashi Water Park”, a cheerful “lion dance” was performed by the “Fei Hung Guan” troupe to open the event. Then, the prayer and unveiling ceremony was arranged. In addition to commemorating “Babao Canal” for providing local people with water to allow them to prosper there, it also promotes the local special and produce. With the participation of local residents and the exchange of local community development associations, it is hoped to make Ershui famous and help local business develop.
In the future, the county government will continue to request more subsidy from the central government to promote major sightseeing construction projects in Ershui Township to add more economic income for the folks in Ershui. Improving the quality of Ershui’s environment and life, we are eager to welcome the new trends with a thanksgiving heart to “remember our origin when drinking water” and to “bid farewell to the old things and welcome new ones with gratitude” to demonstrate Ershui’s new year of energy.
