“Lukang Dragon Boat Festival” started as a folk performance activity in 1978, and now it has become one of the most important festivals in the country as well as one of the “12 major festivals in Taiwan”. By successfully marketing Lukang, it has garnered the town prestigious names such as “Town of Smiles” and “Taiwan’s Top Ten Tourist Towns”. In order to provide the public with high quality, comfortable to view dragon boat competitions, nighttime dragon boat races are held to let more visitors experience the ambiance of Lukang at night. Lukang Dragon Boat Festival is now a highly popular carnival among the locals and visitors from all over Taiwan.
