 The land of Lou Si Catholic Palace was bought in 1877 and was built in 1882. it had been rebuilt three times and it is the catholic headquarter in middle Taiwan, which is the living place of Father. The first fourteen Father are from Spain while after Taiwan was recovered, fathers are from America.
In the spring of 1875, the villager Sin Shi of Luocuo village, a businessman in Kaohsiung, was totally moved after listening the talks of the Father. After coming back to hometown, he invited some relatives to engage Father in Kaohiung to preach in Luocuo . In this hundred years, many Fathers utilizes the power of religion organization to offer education, hygiene and medicine and also process the amelioration of producing agricultural product, establish the charity groups and the first orphanage house.
In 1930s Father Lou-Sa Chang introduced the first western music team, which then becomes the accompaniment group of any joyful and funeral occasions. In 1950s Father Da-Ka Hwu established the first preaching school in the middle Taiwan. There are many historical antiques inside the church including a “God toller” losing one cape made up of alloy of silver and copper and a stone stele proclaimed by King Guanshi, which are both the testimony of history (the information resource is from the website of Pu Sin village office). |
