Homei Daodong Tutorial Academy was built in 1857, and has the most complete building groups among other surviving Academies in Taiwan . The recent renovation has given the academy its original facade. The Academy was pretty closed to Homei Junior High School and Homei Elementary School . The main idol for worship locating in the middle of the building is the great philosopher, Xi Chu. People who devoted themselves in the construction and in several terms of renovation have their name imprinted on tablets, which are placed in honorable places in the east chamber of the main building of the academy. The god of the earth and a piece of mottle-colored wood which was used in the first construction are placed in the west chamber. The garden of the academy is wide and with vast green shades of trees, and it is where the locals spent their leisure hours in the morning and at sunset.
