The Temple of Confucius in Changhua is the symbol of the thriving academia and culture in middle Taiwan . The temple was built in 1726 by the county magistrate, and served both as a temple and the county high school. The structure of Confucius temple was divided into several parts. In the middle, there is Dachen Palace , the main body of the temple, and two small chambers at the east and the south side. In the front, there are the corridor and the Spear Door (the front door). In the east side lays the Road of Justice and Righteous, and the Door of Courtesy. There is a monumental gateway, “L i ng Xing Door” between the front door t and the palace. Behind the palace is the Minl u n Hall, and behind the hall is the old county high school. However, the facade was slightly changed and became more complete after the renovation in 1830.

The original design of the temple was quite spectacular, which includes Peisha Academy and Minlun Hall. However, after so long a time, only the buildings in the middle survived, which are L i ng Xing Door, the Door of Courtesy, the Spear Door, Dachen Palace, the two small chambers at the east and the south side of the palace, and the Saint-Admiring Shrine at the back of the palace.
