This trend was supported by Council of Cultural Affairs in 2003 which offered them counseling, and in 2005, under the support of Council of Labor Affairs, the trend grew into a multifarious developing employment project. This project has not just brought profit, but become a social movement that linked the heart of the villagers. They often actively provide each other clam shells for art creation and appreciate the art works of everybody.

 

Art works made of clam shells are not just art works. Indeed, they become both the media conveying people's intense care for the living and the environment and an act to protect and preserve the eco-system. The numerous deserted clam shells, which used to cause serious environmental problems, have been transformed into delicate artworks. Artistry created in the subject of Platalea minor, the Great White Egrets, and fiddler crabs clearly demonstrate t he inhabitants' affection for the environment. The creating spirit and their mission to arouse people's care for the eco-system is the source of life of the Clam Art Association. It is wished by all the member of the association that one day, with their own effort, they can make all the coastline of Taiwan clean and beautiful.
